TECH students empowered: One student helps teach the class and two other students take classes at ITEC (Informational Technology Empowerment Center)
Providing the environment to enrich and educate adults and students with the capacity to utilize technology for their own betterment is developing their leadership and self-confidence. Learning how to operate computers and make use of the software programs empowers the people to penetrate a multitude of academic, employment, health and financial resources as well as knowing how to use the various engines for social media and where to look for important information.
One of the former TECH participants serves as an Instructional Assistant in the program. Two other participants felt confident to sign up for an English technology course and were later interviewed by the organization. http://www.iteclansing.org/programs/everyday-digital/interview-with-alfonso-and-blanca-s/
The trust that was cultivated and the confidence that was inspired through TECH are significant aspects of their willingness to be active participants in decision-making and providing their input on issues that effect their lives and the lives of their families.
